Woodstone is conveniently located only three miles from Junction 63 of the A1M, with good transport links to Sunderland, Gateshead and Durhan town centres and the surrounding Chester le Street area.
It serves the greater areas of Durham, Northumberland and North Yorkshire.

All the facilities and bedrooms are built around a central courtyard providing a quiet, secure environment. Apart from the accommodation listed above, communal facilities are available, including a specially designed nursery.

Care and support is focused on the skills necessary for parents to correctly and compassionately care for babies and small children. The normal stay would be for a planned twelve weeks when a formal assessment will be carried out in conjunction with Local Authority Children’s Social Workers.

Woodstone provides support to enable a smooth transition into the wider community. It also emphasises the value of self-sufficiency in cooking and household budgeting.

Specialist, post-assessment, support and use of the facilities can be provided anytime in self-contained, one-bedroom flats.

Working with local authorities, Woodstone provides a high standard of accommodation according to the needs of each baby. Care is by planned admission, and the duration of the placement is subject to their individual needs and the consideration of the Local Authority.

Previously Oaktrees was a very popular community Pub within a small village 4 miles from Durham City.

After a total reform, it is now a modern detached children’s residential care service.  It has excellent travel links to Durham and Newcastle, and the main motorway, A1 (M), is less than a 5-minute drive away, with easy access to Teesside, Tyneside and beyond.

The home is big enough to provide large living areas with good natural lighting.  There are specialist adaptations, providing chill-out lounges and accessible kitchens and bathrooms.
There are specially designed sensory spaces, activity rooms, and large, secure outdoor recreational areas for young people to enjoy.

The home has the resources we value for our children and their families, such as local shops and leisure facilities, a local GP and dentist
